“ Indian Railway” -
The fourth largest rail system and the largest in Asia.
About 11,000 trains run through India and
cover a distance of 60000 km, with 7000 stations being interconnected
with each
other. India’s railway system has a long history and has
come a long way as far as technology is concerned.
But no matter how advanced Indian Railways becomes, its true
wealth lies in the trains that behold its history. India as such
is a country with a rich heritage, but its charm is magnified
when these cultural heritages, historic monuments, palaces and
forts is visited in the trains of yesteryears.
The trains like the “Palace on Wheels”, the “Deccan
Palace on Wheels” and the “Fairy Queen” have
been renovated to have a princely splendor and reflect India’s
rich cultural heritage in every aspect. At the same time they
have all the modern amenities. Traveling on one of them is literally
like traveling in a “Palace on Wheels”.
