Rajasthan has a very colorful past with as many as 21 independent kingdoms. Rajasthan has been ruled by a number of Dynasties all of which left some mark in the form of architecture and culture. The cultural influences of all these dynasties results in the culture of today’s Rajasthan. The physical impact of their rule continues in the form of Hawelis, forts and palaces and other architectural structures.

Many of these have converted their palaces into heritage palaces which give the tourists the real taste of a Maharaja’s luxurious lifestyle.

Many palaces and forts have been taken over by the Archaeological survey of India and are currently tourism sites. Some have been converted into museums which display the riches of India in all their glory.
