Diu is a beautiful blend of sun, sand and sea. A sea port and naval base of considerable strategic importance from the 14th to 16th centuries, today it remains so insulated from the influence of the outside world that the entire district seems to be in a time warp. The region is among the oldest bastions of Portuguese power and has a long, colourful history.

Daman is situated on the peppery sands of the Daman-Ganga river which flows softly into the Arabian Sea a few leagues away. A melting pot where races and cultures met and mixed to bring forth a multi-coloured identity and a Portuguese enclave for four and a half centuries till the end of colonial rule in 1961, Daman is a picturesque port town with a temperate climate round the year, an ideal getaway for all seasons.
