The Bull temple (Basavanagudi) is believed to have been constructed in Dravidian style in the 16th century AD. It has a grey granite sacred bull, Nandi, after which the temple has been named.

The sacred bull has been carved out of a single granite block. It measures 4.57 mt in height and 6.10 mt in length.
