Maharana Sangram Singh II ascended the throne in 1710. He was real patriot. The historical heritage of Bambora Fort will always remain the source of inspiration for the future generation. In this historic blood-soaked countryside, amidst the pool night rolling hills ravines and passes of the Aravali, lies the delicate fortress of Bambora - an important Sisodia outpost, strategically placed not too distant from the mother of Udaipur state's fortresses -- Chittorgarh and the new capital at Udaipur also a drum-beat away from Bambora.
Bambora is today available to the discerning and adventurous traveller, to share in it's past and partake of it's present - the epitome of Rajput hospitality, princely comforts and a noblemen's cuisine.
The fort has been sensitively restored to retain it's ambience and yet offer modern conveniences. Of great interest is the whole process of conversation and restoration which the owners, thakur Sunder Singh, his wife thakurani Chanda Kanwar of Sodawas (Marwar-Jodhpur) and their aristrocratic family, took up this challenging task, of converting this majestic fort into an immaculate Heritage Resort. |
